Blog Post 3 - Response to BBG Ch. 11

The section I found most interesting was the research proposal. Coming out of high school, I have never done a research paper before, so the concept is new to me. I have never been much of a planner, and this section gave me a respect for thorough planning. I have a better understanding of how it can be useful in clarifying your ideas and questions. It’s also a way for you to continue asking yourself questions. It is also something that you can refer back to when revising your actual research paper. The potential problems section can give you some clearer things to focus on if you feel that your paper needs to be tweaked or cleaned up in some way. I also thought the “Why are you choosing this topic?” question was very necessary. I think it’s really important, when you are personally allowed to choose what you write about, to be passionate about the topic you choose. This will come through in your writing. With topic you don’t care about, your paper will be very bland. If you don’t care about the things you have to say, neither will the people reading them.
