Blog Post 5 - Response to "The Habitat"

What I found interesting about this podcast was the way it was formatted. What I liked especially is that we would hear quotes from the participants, then get Lynn’s commentary, then get other perspectives from an expert. Lynn gave physical descriptions, background information, and made comparisons. Giving quotes from the participants allows you to connect with them and understand where each person is coming from, and why they chose to participate in the project. Lynn’s commentary gives an outsider’s perspective on the crew and the project, and helps make connections between each person and have a deeper understanding of what’s going on. The information from Dr. Kim Bimsted helps the listener further understand the project, by giving the reader a more scientific perspective as to why the project is occuring. The mix of background information on the participants and the project, the different reasons Lynn, the participants, and Dr. Bimsted give as to why the project is happening, and the commentary on each person and everything they encounter give the reader a good understanding of what HI SEAS is and helps them get invested in the project and its participants. I know it got me invested, because I have plans to keep listening.
